Steven Potter, a primary school head teacher, is the Liberal Democrat's candidate in the City Council Chichester North ward by-election to be held on 15th October.

The by-election has been caused by the resignation, for personal reasons, by longstanding Liberal Democrat councillor Barry Fletcher.

Steven is grounded in the local community. He has lived in the centre of the city for over 20 years and believes that people want local representation.

He cares passionately about education and believes that sound family and community values are central to a successful and happy society. As a head teacher he promotes a strong ethos of care, respect and responsibility amongst the pupils.

As a head teacher Steven has a strong sense of duty and service. He coaches the Chichester U8s, a mini rugby side and has recently joined Dell Quay sailing club.

Steven is married to Rachael, who also teaches in a local school. They have two children, Ned and Rose, who attend Jessie Younghusband primary school.

Steven attended University of Chichester and has a degree in Sports Studies, a post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies, a PGCE and a Masters in School Improvement.

Steven has become involved in politics and is looking forward to the challenge of ensuring that local opinions are heard and acted upon.
