Another Conservative Councillor resigns

4.46.01pm GMT Mon 1st Dec 2008

Following resignations by Conservative Councillors in Bury and East Wittering wards earlier in the year another Conservative Councillor has resigned.

Paul Mackey, who represented the Plaistow ward, attended just one of the seventeen council meetings held since the May 2007 election, none of the meetings of the Corporate Governance & Audit Committee, of which he was a member, and only half the meetings of the Development Control (North) Committee.

The Liberal Democrats challenged his commitment in September. He was stripped of his Committeeships in October before resigning in November.

Residents in the Plaistow ward, the most distant from Chichester, deserve representation by a hard-working, informed and committed councillor.
